A BIT ABOUT CONTENT HYPE
Hi, my name is Matthew Galea.
As a journalist, I have worked in print and digital media. As a marketer, I have worked in corporate communications and investor relations, and in-house on customer-facing communication campaigns.
At the end of the day, whether you’re hurtling towards a print deadline on a major news piece, or scrambling to send out important updates to customers, the bottom line is you are telling your audience a story.
And to tell a story, you need to be able to capture the attention, or perhaps even the imagination of your audience.
My passion for storytelling started when I was a little boy collecting football trading cards. I used to line them up in opposing formation, pitching my fantasy teams against one another and using a microphone I found lying in an old cupboard, I would record commentary of the imaginary game unfolding before me.
Sometimes, I’d even write a match report.
By the time I was 16, I turned my attention from fantasy to fiction by writing for local sports fanzines and blogging online about whatever issue tickled my fancy.
Between now and then, I’ve written and told stories about 100-year-old lawn bowlers, property and investment, people fleeing the Soviet Union, make up products, national sports and everything in between.
